5 LAWS EXPLAINED BEAUTIFUL BY JESUS

Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. - Matthew 5:17

    1. Murder vs Angry

    OLD LAW

    You Shall Not Murder

    You have heard that it was said to the men of old, ‘You shall not murder,’ and ‘Whoever murders shall be guilty before the court.’ - Matthew 5:21

    NEW LAW

    Jesus - But I say to you that everyone who continues to be angry with his brother or harbors malice against him shall be guilty before the court; and whoever speaks contemptuously and insultingly to his brother, shall be guilty before the supreme court (Sanhedrin); and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of the fiery hell. - Matthew 5:22

    2. Prayer vs Peace

    OLD LAW

    When Presenting Your Offering

    At the altar, and while there you remember that your brother has something such as a grievance or legitimate complaint against you,

    NEW LAW

    Jesus - Leave your offering there at the altar and go. First make peace with your brother, and then come and present your offering. Come to terms quickly at the earliest opportunity with your opponent at law while you are with him on the way to court, so that your opponent does not hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you are thrown into prison. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, you will not come out of there until you have paid the last cent. - Matthew 5:23-26

    3. Revenge vs Forgive

    OLD LAW

    Eye for an Eye

    An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth is the principle that a person who has injured another person is to be penalized to a similar degree by the injured party.- Matthew 5:38

    NEW LAW

    Jesus - But I say to you, do not resist an evil person [who insults you or violates your rights; but whoever slaps you on the right cheek, turn the other toward him also, simply ignore insignificant insults or trivial losses and do not bother to retaliate maintain your dignity, your self-respect, your poise. - Matthew 5:39

    4. Your Enemy - Hate vs Pray

    OLD LAW

    Hate your enemy

    You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ - Matthew 5:43

    NEW LAW

    Jesus - I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be the children of your Father who is in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on those who are evil and on those who are good, and makes the rain fall on the righteous (those who are morally upright) and the unrighteous (the unrepentant, those who oppose Him). - Matthew 5:44-45

    If you love only those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do that? - Matthew 5:46

    And if you greet only your brothers wishing them God’s blessing and peace, what more than others are you doing? Do not even the Gentiles who do not know the Lord do that? - Matthew 5:47

    You, therefore, will be perfect growing into spiritual maturity both in mind and character, actively integrating godly values into your daily life, as your heavenly Father is perfect. - Matthew 5:48

    5. Holy Ritual vs Good Deed

    OLD LAW

    Holy Ritual

    A man was there whose hand was withered. And they asked Jesus, “Is it lawful and permissible to heal on the Sabbath?”— they asked this so that they might accuse Him and bring charges into court. - Matthew 12:10

    NEW LAW

    Jesus - What man is there among you who, if he has only one sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath (Holy day), will not take hold of it and lift it out?  How much more valuable then is a man than a sheep! So it is lawful and permissible to do good on the Sabbath. - 12:11-12

    Jesus said to the man, “Reach out your hand!” The man reached out and it was restored, as normal and healthy as the other. - Matthew 12:13
