TURNING WATER INTO WINE

[John 2, 1-11]

Jesus and His disciples were invited to a wedding, the mother of Jesus was there and said to Him, “They have no more wine.” Jesus said to her, “[Dear] woman, what is that to you and to Me? My time [to act and to be revealed] has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.

There were six stone water pots set there for the Jewish custom of purification (ceremonial washing), containing twenty or thirty gallons each. Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the water pots with water.” draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter [of the banquet]. So, they took it to him.

The headwaiter tasted the water which had turned into wine, not knowing where it came from he called the bridegroom, and said to him, “Everyone else serves his best wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then he serves that which is not so good; but you have kept back the good wine until now.”

The first miracle, Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and revealed His glory and his disciples believed in him.
